Basically when I first came here a month ago, I went to registered the address on Zairyu and also enroll in NHI because I didn’t know at that time that I can enroll in Shakai Hoken as a dependant.
Now I’m about to provide documents to my wife’s company but quite confused:
1. Do I have to cancel the NHI? Is it even possible? Or it is cancelled immediately when I enroll in Shokai Hoken as a dependant?
2. My wife’s company demanded My Number Card in which the notice just arrived and I just applied online, in which I have to wait approximately a month for the card. They also demanded Juminhyo which got my number on it. But I guess they do really need both? Problem is I’ll probably miss two payments for two months, is that really bad?
Everything about insurance, pension, or even something like getting a my number is so confusing to me, there’s no clear explaination and procedures even on nenkin website or the official foreigner guide. They should give us a paper on arrival at this point listing things to do and what are required, I didn’t even know that pension and insurance are mandatory.
P. S. NHI card haven’t arrived yet (they gave me the temporary paper one), and also the first month bill isn’t arrived yet, didn’t know when to pay, etc. Plus chicken and egg problem (phone number and bank account). It’s kinda frustrating.
