I’m looking to go to GenkiJACS language school next year.
They can only sponsor student visas for 18 months.
As far as I understand, Japan allows you to have a student visa for up to 2 years when studying at language school.
Will it be possible to attend a different school after finishing at GenkiJACS and have them sponsor my visa extension for 6 months? I just want to make sure there’s no rule like “Extensions can only be 1 year, so you can’t get one if you’ve already been here for 18 months” or something else that would ruin my plans to study for two years straight.
I asked GenkiJACS and they suggested staying on a tourist visa after the 18 months, but then I wouldn’t be able to work.
If anyone has extended a student visa before, I’d also be interested to hear if it was a difficult process or not!
