My certificate of eligibility doesn’t correspond to my study period

Hi, I will move in September to Japan for a study exchange semester. I have thus applied for a 6 months residency permit. The host university has sent everything to the immigration office on my behalf. Yesterday I received my Certificate of eligibility (COE) where it’s written “one year” instead of 6 months. I don’t know what to do now. Because in the visa application form I have to refer to what is written in the COE but in the admission letter (which I don’t have to provide) it’s written that I have been accepted for just one semester.
I don’t know if this is a mistake form someone or if it is a completely normal phenomena. I tried to look online but I couldn’t find anything. A classmate of mine who also goes with me also has this same issue.
I also don’t how to act. Should I tell this to someone? What if they make me restart the COE application progress all over again? If I don’t tell someone and just write in the application form what’s in my COE, it should theoretically be fine and I wouldn’t do anything wrong but what if they find out and deny me entry because of this? If someone knows something about this please tell me

  2. If you are only due to study for 6 months I would speak to the host university to confirm why they’ve given you a coe of one year. The host university does all the coe applications so if they’ve made a mistake then they need to fix it. Also i’m in japan for an exchange year from september too!

  3. I’m no expert, just to disclaim. My understanding is that the COE is only a prerequisite for your visa, and the dates that really matter will be the ones on your visa, in addition to the start date of your COE
