I recently got a Nespresso machine. Nespresso capsules are made of aluminum and they have the coffee grounds in them when finished.
Fortunately I live near Shinjuku (Nakano) and I can take a recycling bag in to their store when it’s full, but let’s say I throw them in the garbage instead. Which garbage should I put them with?
Also does anyone know if Nespresso will accept bags with third-party aluminum capsules in them mixed with their own?

Rule of thumb: If it’s less malleable than adamantite it goes in moeru gomi
Follow the disposal instructions for kitchen aluminum foil. Nakano ward says to dispose them as metal waste.

Personally when I was using nespresso, until they finally provided recycling in store, I’d manually open them to separate the grounds and the capsule. So the grounds went to waste, and the empty capsule to recycling.
I picked up [one of these](https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005004743035091.html), and have been very pleased with it. It easily separates the grounds from used aluminum pods.
I paid a bit more for the stainless steel finish, and feel it was well worth it.
