  1. I’ve bought 8 days worth and made my way from Tokyo to Fukuoka over vacation when I was a student.
You get to hop of all the smaller stations the shinkansen doesn’t stop at and I loved it, not sure if it’s worth it for just 2 days.

  2. 18切符 is a hidden gem! The best part is you don’t have to use it consecutively!

My advice would be to fly to Tokyo or Osaka unless you already live there and just aim for a cool place like Wakayama : Amazing beaches Trainline across the coast nature temples or Nagano from camping trekking etc (cooler temperatures in the mountains)

Wherever you go I plan it in such a way to reach back home by the 5th day.

The most important tip would be to use ジョルダン 青春18 as the site will only show the lines applicable to the pass.

  3. My graduation trip solo was possible because of that ticket.

My route is no longer possible due to the Kanazawa shinkansen but I did something like.

    Tokyo-Kanazawa-Fukui-Nagoya-Ise-Shizuoka-Tokyo

  4. My wife and I went from Tokyo to Nagasaki and back. Years ago. I was begging her to take a Shinkansen back, but she wouldn’t have any of my nonsense.

  5. My favorite ticket!
Enjoyed my last summer thanks to this.

It’s very fun if you like the trip itself. But not so much if your goal is solely to reach a destination.
Used it to go from Osaka > Tokyo, with a lot of stops at completely random station to enjoy the area around (hotel booking was so cheap last year).
Most memorable would be at Odawara where for some reason It’s so quiet even at 7pm.
