Speakeasy bars in Tokyo (like bible club)

Just been to the Bible club (Osaka) for the second time this week (I really love it!) . I am back to Tokyo in a few days and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for any similar speakeasy type cocktail bars in Tokyo? (have googled but wanted to hear peoples advice).

Thanks !

  1. Deviating a bit, I live near Portland where we have the sister Bible Club. I saw they have on in Osaka and I’m going in October. So 10/10 would recommend to go?

  2. If you like music, you might enjoy some of the Jazz kissaten and record bars around town. Many are lowkey with great music and often great drinks.

  3. A bit of a bar fanatic so I heavily researched a visited a ton on my trip to Tokyo a few months ago. Some are speakeasies but I’d love to include a few I recommend that are not.

SG club – rank highly on Asias 50 best bar and the most innovative menu by far. I had a takoyaki and curry cocktail that tasted like exactly just that.

Swrl – next door to SG club and owned by the same person. Specialize in wine cocktails. On weekends after 10 there is a DJ that plays slow jams. Cool vibe.

Bar Trench – also in Asias 50 best bar, and the sister bar to Bar Tram which was recommended above. It’s VERY tiny and intimate and beautiful. I recommend checking it out.

A10 – speakeasy you likely seen on social media. Very beautiful vinyl bar but a little underwhelming.

Janai Coffee – speakeasy bar nearby as well. Beautiful, but again very quiet and dull. Service was good though felt rushed.

Mixology Salon – a boujee experience in Ginza where you can try an alcoholic tea forward omakase if you will. Amazing experience.

Tir na nog – mentioned by another user. Absolutely stunning bar that’s worth looking at alone. Drinks are also fun.

Memento Mori – a beautiful and classy bar that is on Asias 50 best bar. Probably my favourite as I enjoy the elegant but not uptight vibe. One of the bartender speaks perfect English so he was fun to chat to.

Record bar analog – the perfect vinyl bar, I think what a10 aspired to be. Low key, great sound system, you can give song request and look through vinyls. Downside is that it seems like there are no locals here and is a tourist hot spot.

Ben fiddich – nearly impossible to get a reservation but if you can it’s a must. I wasn’t able to but it was on the top of my list. Rated as one of the best bars in the world

    Hope this helped!

  4. Currently in japan and i didn’t like how most clubs allow people to smoke inside the club and not have a designated area( my entire body and cloth smells like a cigarette when i leave the club). Anyone have place recommendation of great clubs that doesn’t smell like cigarette. Thanks in advance
