  1. How often are long-term economic forecasts like this accurate?

Economists 50 years ago probably thought that pre-bubble Japan was going to become the world’s #1 economic superpower by now.

  2. well that maybe true but we would have genetically engineered cat girls by 2073

  3. Nigeria and Pakistan seems like a stretch tho. Population growth ≠ economic growth

  4. Probably everyone involved in making that prediction will be dead or retired before then anyway.

  5. Lol 2075, what a wild ballpark prediction, like does anyone remember Covid? Does anyone remember how quickly the worlds economy can be shaken with just one global event – how many more will happen between now and then?

  6. Even if this prediction came to pass, so what? Japan will still be a better place to live. There are some places in Mexico or Brazil I want to visit and a few I might consider living in but Nigeria, nope. Already lived there and with the population growth, it’s going to be an even bigger nightmare. Egypt? Hard pass. Pakistan? NFW.

  7. Another related and equally scientifically accurate news: Venus retrograde this month means it’s not a good time for Gemini to make big economic decisions.

  8. So all the countries that are going to be boiled alive due to global warming? *Doubt*…

  9. Sure GDP may be greater. But HDI will not surpass Japan unless there’s a big redistribution of wealth and reduction of corruption in those countries

  10. the Goldman Sachs long term economy prediction on Japan to be proven wrong.

  11. I don’t know, the stupidly weak yen right and bargain basement cost of living compared to 30 years ago should bring some manufacturing back here.
