I’m going to be traveling to Japan for the first time in October and my friends and are I trying to decide all of the things we’re interested in doing.
I would love to go see Sumo wrestling but everything i find on google only mentions the big 6 tournaments, none of which are happening while we will be there.
Are there any smaller venues where you can go to watch exhibition matches year round or are we outta luck?

This appears to be a post regarding booking tickets for Sumo Basho, or watching sumo wrestling in general. NHK Japan offers [Grand Sumo Highlights](https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/sumo/) with english commentary as the yearly schedule plays out. This link is usable worldwide during the regular season.
If you are looking for general information on the sport itself, please check with /r/sumo for their excellent guides to watching Sumo for first timers, located in the sidebar.
If you are looking for information on the Japan Sumo Association please check [here,](http://www.sumo.or.jp/En/) while the yearly schedlue of matches can be found [here.](http://www.sumo.or.jp/EnJungyo/schedule).
We also have information on booking tickets for basho in our [“Sumo” section of the FAQ.](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/wiki/faqs/japantravel#wiki_sumo_wrestling)
Happy Planning!

Your best bet to see anything sumo is to go and watch stable practice and keep an eye on the sumo association website if anything else comes up in the mean time..
I’m not sure when you’re going in October but I don’t imagine first division do exhibition that near a tournament.
