Bring two asthma inhalers to Japan?

Hi,

I know Japan has a website online regarding this but I’ve seen super conflicting information. I’ve read that you can’t bring more than one “medical device” per person, and also claims that you can bring two inhalers at the same time as long as they arent the same type of inhaler.

Does anyone have experience with this???

They are a preventative (Advair HFA) and emergency “rescue” (albuterol sulfate) inhaler if it’s relevant, i can at least tell that these are both legal. both one month’s supply

Also, does the “medical device” restriction apply to a nasal spray (flonase)?

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies!

  1. I brought two Inhalers to Japan in 2020 (in January before lockdown and widespread covid protocols), and it was no issue. I took them out of luggage for metal detectors since they have metal but was never once questioned about them.

  2. Inhalers are not classified as medical devices. Medical devices are things like CPAP machines. You can bring two (or three!) inhalers to Japan with no problem.

  3. I brought both of these inhalers to Japan last month. I’ve also traveled to dozens of countries and never once had anyone ask anything about the medicines I had with me (including pill bottle full of loratadine).

Just think about how many medicines older people carry around, they don’t care about one inhaler.
