  1. They don’t even make those anymore. They’re a rare sight these days.

  2. I don’t know how common seeing a Mustang in America is.

You don’t see Skylines often here

  3. Far less common. Skylines were special even in Japan; a better comparison (outside of a racetrack, where you can still see them in droves) would be other Japanese sports cars in the US. 240SX, Supra, GT-Four, etc…

Especially now that the golden age Skylines are decades old, the only people you’ll really see driving them are enthusiasts and racers. Compare that to the Mustang, which is basically a lowest-common-deonominator, mass-produced, basic bitch “sports” car (not knocking on Mustangs, but Ford historically has made and sold a lot of them; a big part of why they’re so popular is because economies of scale make them more affordable).

  4. Depends where you’re at.

They’re everywhere in Okinawa. All the US military people buy them up.

You’ll likely see Skylines in larger cities. Along with many other cool(er) cars. Tokyo is great for that.

  5. A fair number of R32 or later Skylines up in Iwate. Most look like they rolled off a factory floor yesterday!

I even saw a perfectly mint R30 or R31 driving around, that is rare though, I’ve seen the same one twice.

It seems that keeping 80s and 90s cars looking stock and factory new is a thing up here, not a lot of modified body work around.
