Why are there too many old people?
When Is frog season here?
I live in a narrow valley with a river/stream running through it down in Miura with tons of wildlife. I often see tanuki, hakubishin, sawagani (a beautiful pure white variation), fireflies, salamanders, various lizards…etc
But I have never seen or heard a frog in the 7 months I’ve been living here, are they a fall thing or just not super common in southern Kanto?
DAE have a complete inability to tune out/separate background noise? Not hearing ability itself, but the brain’s ability to filter out one sound to focus on another? I have extreme difficulty with conversations anywhere that isn’t fairly quiet. If I’m at a noisy restaurant for example, I can’t hear the person across from me but I can hear every word from the table 7m away. Trying to talk while walking down a busy street simple ain’t gonna happen because I can’t even hear my *own* voice over the sound of cars and trucks.
It’s plagued me since forever but no one else I’ve met shares this problem. Is it a hearing problem or a neurological problem? I suspect I have misophonia as some certain sounds or sound qualities piss me off, but could that be related? I get perfect scores on hearing tests so it shouldn’t be a hearing *loss* issue, but I also don’t remember having as much trouble with this before coming to Japan.
We have these nice rollup blinds installed on all our windows. From the house company, not Ikea or some such. The asshole cat has learned how to roll them up and blind us all in the wee hours of the morning.
I’ve searched the manuals and these blinds don’t have a lock button or something to stop them rolling.
Does there exist some product, a clamp, a stopper, etc that can prevent them rolling up without damaging the curtain material?
