  1. In all honestly the wrestlers have a lot of freedom to say things that may not really add up with company plans, this definitely felt like Ospreay just saying what’s on his mind rather the start of a story, though a lot of the stories in New Japan are set up with a simple interview.

To me though it would only make sense to do that if the world belt was split up again, so a story of Ospreay winning it and bringing back the belts could be cool.

  2. To be fair he didn’t say that he’ll restore the old IC belt design, just that he’ll remove the American flag from the US title and possibly change the name.

  3. The amount of times I’ve heard things being said in post-match interviews that got me excited but eventually it ended up being nothing is too high.

Don’t focus too much on Ospreay’s comments, that IC belt is dead, sadly.

  4. Love the clunk and weight of it whenever a champion drops it on the table when starting a interview or conference.

  5. Keeps his word to… complain about something he does not have the authority to change?

  6. I wasn’t gonna say it in that other post earlier but god do I want these beauties back. Whoever bring back the V4 is a legend to me personally.

  7. If Ospreay keeps his word he would get babyface pops that would rival peak Naito

  8. What was the exact reason for changing the title? I don’t hate the new World Title (I don’t love it either) but the retired belt just looks and feels more like a championship you’d want to fight for.
