Advice for a Job in Osaka .

Hey,

So I have been struggling to find a Job in Osaka . Here is the story , I got married to a japanese women and we decided to move to Japan because the quality of life was better in our opinion and she had a great offer for work . But the issue is that I have been having trouble learning Japanese . It’s still extremely basic to this day .

My work back in my country was to do guided tour in my native language and in english . For now I can’t really do it here I think . The Job offer i’ve seen demand a rather advance japanese level and I completely understand that .

So I would like to find a temporary job while learning more japanese and be to able to do something I really like in a year or two . I have been thinking of working in a foreigner bar or eikawa ? The issue is for Eikawa i’m not an english Native and apparently that seems to be an issue as for foreigner bar I didn’t find any offer online . Of those two a bar would be a great gig for me since I have been a bartender in a distant past !

Can anyone either give me idea/advice on the kind of jobs I could do ? Or where to find the kind of job offer I’m looking for ?

I have a Spouse Visa btw .

Thanks in advance!

  1. Factory jobs are fairly easy to get , especially if you have a spouse visa. Good way to learn Japanese as well.

  2. The best way to learn Japanese is talking with your wife ( that is a huge advantage )
and Yes some contract working position or dispatch companies are easy to land your first step in. Since you have Spouse Visa I guess those outsourcing cooperation are pretty welcome any kind of extra working-force
BTW always try your wife’s networking first

  3. I learned plenty of Japanese washing dishes in hotel Okura lol. Later I move to waiter in a Spanish restaurant, and Brazilian but all staff were Japanese. Factory job won’t learn much imo but u can get good money if u do 2 shifts. Foreign bar also not much Japanese and bad salary.
Got those jobs using hello work in my first year in japan. Later I went back to software engineer/ graphic programming. For me was kinda fun doing something complete out of my area 😅

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a gaijin bar job advertised, would assume most people walk in and ask for a job. If there is an opening, you get hired. If you don’t work out, you get fired. Being on a spouse visa is a big plus because there are no work visas for bar workers, and working holiday visa & student visa holders aren’t supposed to do that work either.

Apart from that, go to Hello Work. They’re the organization that helps job seekers and has many jobs posted.

  5. Guess I’ll start practicing my karate skills just in case! 😄🥋

  6. Factory jobs (plenty opportunities, you might learn Japanese, you might over work yourself, but the pay can be good)

Amazon delivery (not gonna learn Japanese, but it’s flexible and good income if you are fast)

English teaching (it’ll be tough to find something decent, super saturated market and you won’t learn any Japanese)

Truck driver (gotta get the license though, but hello work helps paying it partly for you)

Check with hello work, they’ll help you find something or get discount on courses, licenses etc.

You can work with anything really, that’s a very good advantage.
