I’ve been offered to move to Tokyo by my company. We’re lucky as my wife and I work at the same company, so they will include a good contract for her as well.
However, I’m now trying to estimate the minimum viable contract and reading the cost of living comparison between Zurich and Tokyo, it seems like Tokyo is something like 60% cheaper, but looking into it, it’s not that much different than Zurich when factoring in our lifestyles.
Plus… the taxes, my god. Not really a level we’re used to. So has anyone here moved from Zurich to Tokyo recently? What do you wish you knew ahead of time? It seems like quite a significant hit on the net savings?

**Any Swiss expats in Tokyo with some helpful insights?**

I moved from Zurich to Tokyo 4 years ago. For me, my lifestyle hasn’t changed, I can still live comfortably as I used to in Zurich.
