Hi everyone,
As a Canadian, do you think the weather and humidity of Japan in August is comparable to that of Toronto these days?
People say Japan is really hot and humid during this time. And I always thought they were exaggerating, so I am curious.
People say they are drenched in sweat and have to shower twice a day. Is it all true?

I lived in Florida for awhile.
Summer here the last two years was not that bad, especially two years ago,we didn’t hit 30c til like august.
This year we hit 37c before June ended, and the humidity makes Vietnam feel like a desert.
This year is especially bad, I feel like worse than any summer I remember in Florida.
I grew up in a place with summers hotter and more humid than Tokyo, but the sun here I find painful. I often wear long sleeves just to keep cool.
It’s way worse than Vancouver that’s for sure
In Yokohama it’s almost impossible to go outside in July on a sunny day. My wife refuses to leave the house. I took my dog for a walk at 8pm last night and I was drenched when I returned. I’m leaving for the US in a week for 3 months. Next year I’ll leave a month earlier.
Grew up in a nice part Miami, and that was definitely swamp ass most of every year.
Japan’s sun has always felt pretty harsh and intense the last 7 or so years I’ve lived here. It is hot and muggy usually June to late October.
The difference is, the temperature is spiking this year similar to like 2018 as other people said.
That being said: nothing in Canada comes remotely close to the ugly humid heat of Japan, Miami Florida, baton rogue Louisiana, etc. Humidity just makes everything feel so much crappier. Cold or Hot..
I’m from Toronto, and Tokyo in the summer is way hotter. Canada climate is Hokkaido, and it gets hotter as you go south. Tokyo is especially bad because of the concrete and lack of green. Half of Toronto has streets lined with hundred-year old trees. It makes it so much nicer to walk in. Somebody in Japan decided trees aren’t relevant in cities outside of parks.
Tokyo in the summer is the most uncomfortable heat I’ve experienced in Japan, and I lived in Okinawa for years
