Hi guys!
I’m a 24(F)( can speak conversational Japanese), it’s my 25th birthday next Saturday (5th August)
Can yall suggest something fun?
I’ve been here for 4 months so I’ve done the basic touristy things.
Any suggestions for special activities, restaurants, etc?
I would mostly be spending my day with 2 of my friends.
Budget around 20k, I won’t be throwing a party, so the budget is for me.
I don’t want my entire birthday to be about getting drunk and passing out. I do like exploring new places, adventurous activities, traditional Japanese experiences etc
Can ya’ll share your experiences? How did y’all spend your birthday here?

The last birthday I really celebrated was 2021 when all the bars were shut cos of Covid so we walked around from park to bench drinking outside.
If you have a couple friends you can rent a limousine to have a party in (around 30k yen, can bring your own drinks). Up to 9 people can ride so it’s not too expensive if you split it.
Do you want to celebrate with friends or on your own?
but then again my suggestion is the same whether on your own or not lol. 1) karaoke 2) yakiniku. The difference is just that if you’re alone you can go to places marked as hitori yakiniku/hitokara vs the usual.
You didn’t say budget or what size group. That kinda helps with suggestions
1. Go to one of the Tokyo islands (I like hachijo)
2. Showa memorial park or one of the other large parks m, rent a bike, brings some bentos and a mat to sit on.
3. Buy Tokyo wide pass go visit as far as you can that’s convenient
Blow 20k yen on a disgusting hooker and hope you don’t get aids.
I went on a boat cruise with dinner around the rivers. Was about 11000 a person
I guess you could try one of the VR places, Escape room, or the standard getting drunk.
There are a few Hanabi festivals going on. On 5th August, Itabashi and Edogawa are having fireworks and I believe it’s free entry too.
Any/all of the Team Labs are worth seeing, although Saturday perhaps not the best day for it.
If you’re into the Fetish scene at all or are at least quite open minded and dont mind being out all night you can go to Department H in uguisudani, it’s bring your own drinks.
Pop into New York Grill. Beautiful view, great food, and they’ve usually got nice jazz musicians playing
Beer garden! About 6000 yen for all you can drink and eat. I like the one from More’s.
Host club. That’s what I like to do on my birthday. First visit is pretty cheap
it’s summer time what is cooler than chilling in a beach house restaurant.

Fireworks in Kawaguchi area that night 👍🏽
Buy a thick marbled A5 Wagyu Matsuzaka sirloin slab and cook it just enough that its not mooing when you slice into it. Have with wasabi and soy sauce.
Pocket the rest of the money.
Work with me here… The Hub
Sweets Paradise for all you can eat cake!
It might be nice to stay in a ryokan somewhere in a smaller place where a festival is taking place
I spent watching netflix at my home. With strong zero and skewers.
Birthday twins!!!! I’m thinking about swimming at Enoshima~
I just had my birthday last weekend. Took a bus to Fuji-Q Highlands in the early morning for some amusement park fun, stayed at a hotel near Lake Kawaguchi with a view of the lake from my room, ate at a fancy French restaurant at said hotel, relaxed at the open air onsen downstairs, woke up the next morning to catch a view of Mt Fuji during sunrise, and then headed back to Tokyo via train. 12/10 would recommend.
I just spent my birthday weekend in zushi, doing surfing and paddle boarding, then went to Minato Mirai and did the BBQ (dream door), both activities I met a lot of people , laughed a lot, ate a lot, drank a lot. Hell at dream door, the bbq next to us was 5 women, two were celebrating the same birthday as me, so it turned into a giant get together with strangers.
I highly recommend Zushi beach if you like outdoor/beaches though, better than Kamakura and enoshima
Onsen

Riding, go kart (need licence), kayaking or canoeing in any resort around hokkaido. Or goto biwa or suwa lake for fishing and staying over night. Try to do things that was within budget and won’t have too much risk. Or goto one of the Aizu regions and try out kendo, naginata for a few days to knock yourself out.
You can spoil yourself at a spa with that type of budget?
A few years ago for my wife’s birthday we rented a car from Overland Japan and went camping at Fujikawaguchiko. Really well setup and maintained vehicles that come with pretty much everything you need.
I’m 24 too and my birthday is in august. I’m thinking about going to Tokyo disney since I’ve only been to disney sea
Going to live music (indie shows at livehouses) is one of the most fun things you can do here and I feel it’s sorely underrated. I wrote [a guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/comments/14sum76/how_to_access_live_music_in_japan_and_why_it/) on how to access it, but I can also DM you some specific recommendations for the 5th if you’re interested.
We did 日帰り onsen at a ryokan in Kanagawa. We stayed in a room with a private open air bath with a fancy bento lunch. I wish I could remember the name of the place, it was on the Odakyu line but closer to Tokyo than Hakone.
