NOAH in the early 2000s was just off the charts amazing!
Destiny 2005, definitely foundational to my pro wrestling taste and established Kobashi as my favorite wrestler. Pretty sure I caught this on an uploaded episode of Touken Retsuden pretty soon after this war happened & I’ll be forever grateful. It was quite the departure from the Liger & Muta matches I tended to be drawn to as a kid.

It’s a big reason I’m so excited to see Eddie Kingston live the dream in Japan right now. Puroresu was an escape from a rough home life and the traps that come with an area that lacks economic oppourtunity. New York City & Amarillo, Texas might be as different as cities can get, but they’re both historically significant in puroresu and pro wrestling in general.
For my money Destiny 2005 is the greatest professional wrestling show to ever happen
I just see all of eddie kingston inspiration in this clip. This was a great view.
This one was real good.
This is what you call a “Big E Special”
Big Meaty Men Slapping Meat! Lol 😆
Gotta disagree with big e, you can DEFINITELY have a five star classic with big beefy men bumping beef
2005 was such an INSANE year (I wouldn’t fight too hard against someone calling it wrestling’s GOAT year) that I’m not sure it’s a top 5 MOTY, and yet it’s a bonafide classic and one of the best matches in NOAH history.
Holy Sh!t
Enough chop to cook a steak well done.
The chop battle here is forever untouched. Would’ve loved to have seen prime Kobashi vs Gunther 🔥
Born in seattle??
This is the definition of meat slapping.
im just getting into japanese wrestling but this seems like the definitive showcase. its basically like literally roshambo on steroids
That was f-cking fantastic! Thank you for uploading
This is my favorite Noah match
God what a battle this was. And absolute proof you don’t always need blood or weapons or anything gimmick like to have an awesome memorable match that makes fans thrilled. This match absolutely ruled and still does rule.👍
Kobashi is so moist yo, mist just BLASTING off him with every blow!
