Yup, totally Paris. Oh, Paul…
Ok, I’m a bit biased because Paul Krugman was like my economics hero in Uni (early 2010s). But it’s refreshing to see someone point out that Japan IS growing it’s GDP per Capita and has incredibly maintained economic and social stability.
What he doesn’t mention is that much of this per capita growth is attributable to foreign acquisitions and investments by Japanese companies, and is not passed down through wages to workers. The disparity in wages is what leads many to question its ability to turn around a downward trend in innovation, talent acquisition and relative standard of living compared to other OECD countries.
