Letter from Yokohama City Electricity, Gas, Food, etc Price Surge Emergancy Support Benefit legit?

I got a letter from a group claiming to be the Yokohama City Electricity, Gas, Food, etc Price Surge Emergancy Support Benefit. It says because of the price surges they’re trying to help support people. If I send in my information (via mail of course) I’ll recieve 3万円. But it feels sketchy to just write out my bank info and send a copy of an ID card though the mail. I know Japan is way behind on doing things online but I just want to check before I send it. Did anyone else in the Yokohama area get one of these? Is this legit or is it a scam?

  1. You may also want to try asking in /r/Tokyo.

  2. Well it does seem the city of Yokohama is doing what you describe.
Says in the link they are sending out notifications by mail in blue envelopes to households that received the 50,000 yen emergency support last year. These households do not need to send in any documents besides a bank account to receive the payment. So, did you get any emergency support payment last year?
