Hi, I’ll be moving to Japan for a year using a working holiday visa, I will receive a residence card, can I still use a international driving permit there?
I’m due to get a A2 motorcycle licence (UK) in September, but I cannot convert it because I would have only held the licence for 2 months in my home country.
Therefore, I would like to know if it’s ok for me to drive using an international driving permit, I’d appreciate any comment!
Additional notes –
I’ve had a CBT and have 2 years riding experience, although a CBT is just recognised in the UK.

Yes, you can drive for up to one year on an IDP. The 3 month thing for the motorcycle license should not be a problem because that’s a license conversion thing, not part of the IDP agreements and requirements.
