Work around Shibuya station for 5 months

Hello everyone,

In a few months, I’ll be heading to Tokyo for a 5-month mission. Before I go, I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help me with. Firstly, I’m curious about the ease of finding short-term housing there. I came across hmlet, which seems to offer rentals for foreigners, but I’m not sure if their deals are worth considering.

Additionally, I’ll be working around Shibuya station, and I’d appreciate some suggestions for a nice neighborhood to live in. My salary will be around 550,000 yen, and I’m hoping to find a small studio in a lively and relatively close area. Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help.

  2. There are several companies offering short term apartments, I’ve used Sakura House a few times. Getting a regular apartment is not realistic since there are high entry fees and contract are usually for two years.

With that salary you can afford a nice neighborhood near Shibuya. Check the various trains that go there and explore stations that offer a short commute. Around Shimokitazawa are some good options, also Yoyogi and Naka Meguro are really nice. Enjoy Japan!
