I found one website claiming that the annual Miyajima Water Fireworks Festival will be held on Aug 27th, which is perfect as I was planning to visit Miyajima near that date anyway. However I cannot find any other information about this festival in 2023, it does not seem to be have been held since the COVID pandemic.
Does anyone know if its still ongoing and if so, any tips for travel? Planning to do a day trip from Osaka to Hiroshima ending in Miyajima, but Ive heard staying on the island is a better option as ferries don’t run late enough to see the fireworks then go.

The summer fireworks were permanently cancelled a couple of years back. There were some small winter shows back in January, but I haven’t heard of any change for the summer shows.
