Wanted to get the PADI license. I’ve heard it’s cheaper to go to southeast Asia or something, but seems prices aren’t so much more expensive around Tokyo, especially with current airfares.
Any recommendations on a school or on how to select a school? Seems there are dozens in Kanto.
I’m thinking to find an English speaking one around Izu. But happy to hear any pointers on how to select a good school.

I did Noris when they were doing a campaign during the summer. Got my book and DVD in English but staff only spoke Japanese (I think). It isn’t particularly difficult if you’re N2 level.
Keep in mind that open water certification won’t really prepare you much. So I’d choose a shop where I’d plan on doing AOW too since usually shops offer discounts if you do both of them. AOW is still beginner lvl tbh.
