Letter from Yokohama City Electricity, Gas, Food, etc Price Surge Emergancy Support Benefit legit?

I got a letter from a group claiming to be the Yokohama City Electricity, Gas, Food, etc Price Surge Emergancy Support Benefit. It says because of the price surges they’re trying to help support people. If I send in my information (via mail of course) I’ll recieve 3万円. But it feels sketchy to just write out my bank info and send a copy of an ID card though the mail. I know Japan is way behind on doing things online but I just want to check before I send it. Did anyone else in the Yokohama area get one of these? Is this legit or is it a scam?

  1. Wow, that sounds like a great innitiative. If it’s real there should be publicity and articles available online about it too…. otherwise: what a scummiest of the scum scam to actively target struggling people.

  2. Had 4 of my officemates who live in Yokohama got the money.

Meanwhile in Tokyo there’s nothing 🙁

    Edit:
2 of my other colleagues have filled up their form and gave it to our HR. Looks like its legit.

  3. Are you paying taxes or are you exempted? My income last year wasn’t enough for me to pay taxes so I did get one of these too but they didn’t ask for my info since I already got some support money last year and it was just stating that I will receive a 3万円payment around August on my bank account.
Maybe send me a dm with the document you received and I could tell you if I got the same (which is a legit one btw)
