We have 1 toddler (2-year old) in a stroller, 2 elderly people, and 1 pregnant woman.
We’re traveling to Japan this September and we intend to visit Todaiji Temple and Nara Park. My issue is, from what I’ve read, it’s quite a long walk from train/bus station to the temple.
It will take 2 taxis since we are a group of 7. I wonder if there’s a more efficient way.
Thank you!

I’m assuming you mean Nara station. From Kyoto station it’d be like a 10 hour walk, lol.
It’s a ≈2km/30 minute walk and it’s quite nice. Shopping street for the first half, then a cute little lake and parks for the 2nd.
I’d suggest walking it and just taking your time, you can do it in an hour, no rush.
If that’s really not an option then there is a bus from Nara station
there are two train stations in nara.
one is JR and a good way away from nara park
the other is kintetsu and its right next to the nara park.
there are busses going from JR station to nara park.
from kintetsu station it is about a km to todaiji. most of it is through the park. going a natural way (sightseeing) I would say more like 1.5km to walk
walking from the jr station to todaiji is more like 2.5km
I dont know what distance you are thinking about. you can take a bus and cut that 2.5km down to ~1km
you can use kintetsu and only have ~1km to walk
can you take a taxi through nara park to save 1km walking. I dont think so.
the nearest road should be Remains of Middle Imperial Gate of Todaiji Temple
from there its still 3/4 km to todaiji
but you can stroll along and sightsee and enjoy the time walking.
if this is still too much, you should not be going to nara.
I also dont think kyoto will be fun.
