  1. It’s a good thing I went to Takeshita mid-morning during my last visit to Tokyo. That place is probably far more touristy than Nakamise-dori.

  2. FTA:

    >As the pair were walking along the main avenue, they were approached by a foreign man. He virtually forced them up to a second-floor clothing shop after saying, “Hey brother, do you want to see some clothes? I know a great place.” Nishiyama explained, “The man was tall and scary, **so I had no choice** but to go into the store.”

i’ll never understand this logic. i ran into these kind of people when i was there and just told them no.

like, i get how it could be sketchy and harder to do if you follow them up to an empty 2nd floor office space, but that doesn’t apply out in a busy main street with tons of people in broad day light.

  3. I’ve been a regular to Takeshita for the past two decades. I did quite a bit of browsing a few weeks ago and the amount of merchandise for sale that I could just buy online from Amazon or were clear knockoffs from China were high. It felt like Santee Alley in downtown LA at times.
