Context: I want to take the N2 this December. I’ve also been taking structured Italki lessons pretty seriously 3-4 times a week for over a year now without explicitly and deliberately preparing for the JLPT. After taking a mock N2 exam for the first time ever, I only got 30/60 marks on the vocab/grammar session, but a near perfect score on the reading comprehension portion (not surprising since that’s a big portion of my lessons and what I do on my free time). From those results, I probably should focus on vocab/grammar more than the reading comprehension portion…
Should I use either the Kanzen Master JLPT N2 Vocab prep book, or the [book in the title](https://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%9F%E3%83%8B%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%81%A7%E8%A6%9A%E3%81%88%E3%82%8B-JLPT%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E8%AA%9E%E8%83%BD%E5%8A%9B%E8%A9%A6%E9%A8%93%E3%83%99%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E5%8D%98%E8%AA%9EN2-%E5%90%88%E6%A0%BC2400-%E8%A9%B1%E9%A1%8C%E5%88%A5%E3%82%B3%E3%83%BC%E3%83%91%E3%82%B9%E7%A0%94%E7%A9%B6%E4%BC%9A/dp/4789017966).
It’s quite a new book on the market, and I can only find it on Amazon JP and other Japanese retailers so there’s barely any English reviews on it.
According to JPDB, the # of words I can recognize reliably is around ~**7k**, while my recall is probably lower than that (4-5k?). I probably know a lot or even most of the 2200 単語 in kanzen or the 2400 in ミニストーリ so I wouldn’t be starting from scratch necessarily.
Some additional q’s:
* In order to calibrate myself — how long would it take for a person who doesn’t know a single N2 or higher word to get through one or either of these books?
* Would a good routine be to just plug these into an SRS like JPDB or Anki?
* How is the listening resource that comes with the book? I’ve seen the playlist on YT as well. Is it good enough by itself to practice for the listening portion (aside from listening to native materials outside of formal study of course)?
* Is ミニストーリ better or worse than the Kanzen Master equivalent for N2?
* Is there an E-book for ミニストーリ?
I am curious to see everyone’s thoughts on this, thanks.
