I would look this up myself but my Japanese is quite at the level where I can do self research.
I have a friend in Japan who doesn’t know any English and wants to learn. I’m wondering what a good beginner resource is, especially once that’s free or cheap that they can read online (though if nothing good exists physical works too). Especially something that hammers down English.
Not sure where to ask this, if there’s a better sub please let me know!!

The methodology that’s talked about here is often 1 to 1 transferable to any other target language.

(vtuber content but it’s still rock solid advice, the very same we offer on this subreddit)

This channel and this video does outline the very same methodologies we often talk about here. It just comes down to some grammar study, vocabulary reinforcement, mixed with immersion. The barrier to entry to learning to read English is significantly (compulsory English education lowers this bar to the ground) lower for them, so that’s the best starting point is learning to read and understand basic English and over time improving it with study and consuming English content, media, books, etc.
Also you are also their best resource for learning English, 言語交換ですね?
