Yokohama. Make her commute.
How about Shinsugita?
How about somewhere in between, like Ofuna.
Any Express train stop on the Keikyu Line between Yokohama and Yokosuka. Local stops probably have cheaper rent though.
Consider though that the commute Yokosuka->Yokohama is more crowded than Yokohama->Yokosuka.
Ofuna if you want to be near a major line.
Zushi if you both like the ocean.
Geographically, we’re thinking about Oppama too but it seems more industrial and less residential
somewhere on the hokaido line seems appropiate
Yokoyoko.
A lot of people I knew in your situation settled in Kanazawa ward, near Kanazawa hakkei. It’s a nice express station, about 25 minutes from Yokohama station and 15-20 or so from Yokosuka chuo if my memory serves correct.
Zushi is cool
Somewhere near a station that handles Keikyu limited express, IIRC the only JR trains that stop at Yokosuka are local service but Yokosuka Chuo gets everything.
Happy wife happy life so live in yokosuka and commute to Yokohama
As local, i say both Yokohama st and Yokosuka st are too much of hankagai entertainment district, not really livable.
Kamioooka is.
Totally recommend, my junior bought house there. Had all the convenience and designated residential area.
Keikyu line go to Yokosukachuou st btw.
I had a lot of coworkers that would commute to Yokosuka from Kamiooka. They said it was quite convenient
Kamiooka is a nice mid point.
Understandably most suggestions are focused on the Keikyu Line, but if you are buying Yokohama is way more expensive than Yokosuka. Kamiooka similarly, but a little less so. And so on.
Personally I like the Yokosuka area, but if money’s not an issue I would choose central Yokohama for better access to Tokyo, the Tokaido Line to beach areas, the Yokohama Line to get to Hachioji (mountains), and for Yokohama itself.
Someone here trashed Oppama, but location-wise I think the two Kanazawa stations would also leave only nearby local options for activity.
If you have an outdoor hobby or a car, those are important factors too.
I lived in Akiya, Hayama for 10 years. Just a great place but probably too expensive now. I live in Yokohama now. The old Route 16 from Yokohama to Yokosuka is pretty gruesome although you might check it out. I would vote for an area on or near the Peninsula along the coast near Hayama/Zushi and south but only if I planned on driving up the Yoko/Yoko road to Yokohama to work.
Yokosuka – better that at least your wife is happy with a short commute.
Yokohama – Yokosuka is not great, but not too bad either.
Yokosuka is a shitpit of marines & bad burger/curry shops.. just live in the nicer parts of Yokohama or one of the identikit family places nearby like Totsuka/Kamiooka (has a great park).
