In Genki the sentence: アリゾナだいがくのがくせいです。comes up. Can you tell me why there isn’t another の in between Arizona and daigaku?

  1. As I understand it, the way it is written means “Arizona University”
    With an added “no” it would be “Arizona’s university”

    Which isn’t really THAT weird but it doesn’t seem that particle no is used for school names.

    People would still understand what you mean, but it would sound strange.

  2. アリゾナだいがく means Arizona University or Arizona college whereas アリゾナのだいがく means a college in Arizona
