Really good match. Awesome showcase of the Dragon Screw. Love the psychology of the match too.
You’re on fire, amigo! This is in my opinion one of the greatest matches in all of NJPW’s history and it really comes down to both men being at their best with selling, strikes, and submissions; both men sell their ass off and Suzuki’s sell of the dragon screw in particular is masterful.
Crazy to think that their is not ONE single pin attempt until the end with Tana picking up the win with the HFF.
Tanahashi in his prime hit’s different
This was the NJPW’s first 5 star match in twelve years which is why some people consider it as the beginning of modern NJPW.
Also, Jon Moxley revealed in an interview that this match made him fall in love with NJPW more deeply and that he had watched it “hundreds of times”
It’s sad that he never won IWGP title
Fantastic match, actually saw this a year ago when I was doing a binge watch session of Suzuki matches over a weekend.
