Hey guys, I’m new to the Sake scene as is not very big in our country. I will be trying Sake for the first time. However none of the stores I have visited in my town, seems to have Sake (not a big metro city).
One store do have an alcohol titled “Hakushika Kaon”. The staff at the store declined that they have Sake when I asked, but they suggested it as an alternative. So I went back home and decided to do some research. Following were my observations.
1. Online many websites and review blogs claim that it indeed is a variety of Sake.
2. When I called the store, the manager did say that it is not traditional Sake in the labeling sense but it is virtually the same as Sake procedure and content wise.
3. I searched for the keyword “Kaon” assuming it to be a variety of Sake like Junmai, Nigori etc but couldn’t find it.
What exactly is this Hakushika Kaon?
Can anybody help me out?
