Hi Im a 22F who got married to my husband (26M) in Japan earlier this year during my 3 month visit. We are both from the USA and currently he is in the JET program.
I’m currently back in the USA and finally got approved for my spouse/dependent visa so I’ll be going back soon!
I was wondering if there are any opportunities for foreigners to work remote in Japan.
All that I’m aware of is english conversation gigs, for that which company/website is best?
Are there any other possible options?
My japanese is not business level nor will I be living in a big city, it’s a small rural place. I understand that there might not be much I can do, just wanted to help out my partner a bit financially.

Congrats on your marriage.
Without knowing your education, background, expertise, or kind of job you have interest in aside from English gigs. Sure, there are plenty of remote jobs you could possibly work.
But you’re limited by hours on a spouse visa, so consider that. And you’ll have to pay taxes in Japan on whatever income you make overseas, in addition to filing in America.
Make sure that you get allowance for up to 28 hours from immigration before starting any work at all or you’ll be doing so illegally. On the dependent visa which is the one you’ll be on, that’s all you’re allowed to work. There’s also a yearly income threshold you can’t go over without losing your dependent status so I’d suggest just looking into it. The work you’ll find is all dependent on where you’ll be living but most remote work I see is exactly what you said English conversation gigs which is what I’m doing right now along with working at a local conversation school. The online English gigs can be sketchy and low pay so just be aware of that. You also need to pay taxes on any income.
