Does anyone have advice on finding US-based immigration attorneys, to assist with moving to Japan?
I gather that the usual way is to move first – with a job offer in hand – and then seek help from a Japan-based immigration attorney if needed. For various reasons, I’m interested in getting professional help to explore various visa options, before I make a move.

What visa are you looking to move here under?
I feel that in 95% of cases, you should not need the help of an immigration attorney, unless your case is extremely unique.
A US-based attorney isn’t going to be particularly helpful. There *might* be US attorneys who have some knowledge of Japanese immigration law, but they’re not going to be qualified to actually ***do*** anything.
You need to be looking for attorneys in Japan.
