Hello everyone,
I made a Reddit Account to ask you some stuff. I apologize for my not Perfect english. My university offers me the chance to go to Tokyo or Kyoto for a year abroad, i need to decide where i should go. I learned a little bit japanese to prepare. I am 21, studying Law, and i just wanna experience something totally new. I like to Go out to Clubs and bars and enjoy the nightlife. So that would be important to me. I also would like to try Many restaurants. I also like Fitness and sports. Preferably i would like a city which is less touristy. Which city accomodates these interests better? Do you have any bars, restaurants of clubs you can reccommend? Do you have some general advice? I am Thankfull for every advice.

Your two choices are basically the most touristy destinations in the country.
If you care about clubbing and nightlife, Tokyo will likely serve you better.
Go to Tokyo unless you think you’ll enjoy visiting temples for years. Kyoto has nice sightseeing spots but you can just visit. Nightlife is happening in Tokyo.
Nightlife? Very little in Kyoto vs Tokyo. Tokyo is the only choice for you.
Tokyo unless you have a specific interest in traditional Japanese architecture.
