1. The best way for you to improve is to stop using Duolingo and instead use a proper Japanese learning resource. Literally anything, as long as it is actually made for teaching Japanese and not for 20 other languages, with Japanese added as an afterthought. Almost every “why am I not progressing”-post on Reddit starts with “I am using Duolingo”.

3. Try Japanese pod101 it’s very good! You can try it and use it for free it helped me take my Japanese to the next level

4. I’m still a noob but I’ve been using WaniKani for a few months and I feel it’s been useful. I am following a guide that said to start learning grammar when you reach level 10 of WK (and I’m on level 9 now) so I haven’t done a lot on that side yet. But WK has been great for learning kanji and getting me feeling more comfortable reading and interpreting Japanese. You get a decent amount of WaniKani for free to know if works for you.

   I’ve also heard Bunpro and LingoDeer are useful options but I haven’t used them much.

5. First, ditch duolingo. It’s useless. Switch to a grammar textbook + SRS flashcards(I use jisho) + a shit ton of immersion/usage

6. where are you at on the duolingo course? duolingo has actually been really helpful for me especially with reading practice and getting a grasp of *basic* grammar. but its important that duolingo isn’t your only/main resource. you need to supplement with other study resources. i recommend watching cure dolly grammar videos on youtube along with starting a textbook like genki. for additional vocab study i also recommend n5 anki flashcards. (i use tango n5) this has been my routine along with some duolingo every day (im on section 2 unit 2) and i feel like im making progress.
