We will be in Tokyo and Yokohama for 9 days starting next week. It is our first time travelling outside the country with our kids (ages 21 and 18). Our plan is to explore Tokyo for a few days, go to Yokohama (21-year-old is going to a Pokemon tournament there, the rest of us will explore).
One thing I messed up is not looking into booking a reservation into the Pokemon cafe sooner. It’s not possible at this point. Are there other Pokemon themed restaurants?
We have an interest in anime and cosplay. I think Akihabara is supposed to be known for this, and there are a couple of stores I’ve found mentioned online that we’ll look for. Are there specific stores anyone can recommend we check out?
Are there any festivals in the area for Aug. 8-15th? We could rearrange some things to include this in our plans.
Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at HND in afternoon
Head to hotel in Roppongi area, have dinner and relax
Day 2: Asakusa/Shibuya/Ikebukuro
Asakusa – temples, explore art and papercraft stores
Meiji Shinto shrine
Shibuya Crossing, maybe Shibuya Sky
Ikebukuro: Pokemon Mega Center, Animate
Day 3: TeamLabs and Akihabara
TeamLabs
Akihabara – anime and cosplay related stores (ACOS, Cospatio), Owl Cafe
Day 4: Check out and travel to Yokohama. Explore around hotel (Minatomirai area)
Day 5: Yokohama – Zoological Gardens, downtime
Day 6: Day trip to Kamakura
Day 7: Yokohama – meet with a local friend and explore Yokohama
Day 8: Yokohama – Visit Sankeien Gardens
Day 9: Check out and head to airport for flight home

Not sure if you’re interested or how often you go to Japan, but the 1/1 scale Gundam in Yokohama is closing next March. If you’re at all remotely interested, you could consider going because it might be your last opportunity ever.
there’s also a pokemon center in Shibuya Parco. That mall also has a nintendo store.
There will also be a little pop-up cafe thing at the pokemon tournament
