  1. Think you may need to reconsider how well you read English. Your words are backwards I’m assuming.

  2. You mangled your post a bit.

I think you mean you can read HIRAGANA and KATAKANA fluently but when it comes to KANJI you have no idea what’s going on.

Don’t worry, it’s just a matter of practice. It takes Japanese people years to learn, too! Just load up your Anki deck and do it every day.

  3. Have you heard of the Danning Cruger effect ?
I can assure you that if you struggle with Katakana that you most definitely cannot read fluently

  4. Remember when you thought that you can rely solely on hiragana and katakana and ignore kanji? Only to progress to the point where you NEED kanji to know what the F is going on? I ‘member

    Edit- spelling

  6. I’m C1 level in Japanese and if you stick me in karaoke with a song with just katakana lyrics I struggle lol

You just don’t get the chance to read it as much so you practice less. I don’t find it impacts my life that much but if it really bothers you start practicing reading English songs translated into katakana and stuff. Karaoke really helped with my speed reading lol
