  1. All the legitimate things to get angry at the LDP with and this guff gets a whole article dedicated to it?

  2. How dare they be women in positions of authority, studying and working for women’s empowerment AND doing it in a foreign country, and having any kind of enjoyment in said foreign country or learning anything about said foreign country while there. How dare they!

  3. If my company sent me on a trip abroad for work, I’d definitely be site-seeing in every free moment. Are they supposed to be in serious business mode every second of the day?

  4. On the topic of France, what ever happened to that bento punching Charlie Evans kid? Searches in Japanese, French, and English turn up nothing….

  5. From the headline I expected something raunchy or scandalous, but it was literally just women sightseeing. Maintaining a specific façade is paramount in the world’s fastest shrinking country, I suppose.

  6. Not surprised. Being Japan, if this had involved male parliamentarians, there’d have been no media “interest”.
The old boys network at Jiminto making sure their cushy relationship with a pliant press is unaffected (and largely unquestioned), if they can occasionally throw them some crumbs like this story.

  7. Those kind of work-study abroad dont come without a bit of free time with it.

On a side note, the reason France is one of the few country with a high birth rate, is probably because we understood that working was simply a process and not a goal in life, so they are already applying a bit of what they are learning I would say.

  8. “It brings tears to my eyes”? Fucking really? How butthurt and jealous does someone have to be?

  9. Being Japanese they are probably not taking any real vacation time this year, so let them enjoy their study tour.

Maybe best to hold off on the “wish you were here” posts from the Eiffel Tower though, at a time where everyone back in Japan is stewing in a heatwave.

  10. Lol. At least be a little more discrete about it especially if you’re going on clients expense (in this case, the tax payers). If someone is paying you and the first output they see is a touristy photo, can’t really blame them for being frustrated.

  11. People will complain about anything. If you go half way across the world, even if its just for work, whats wrong with taking in the sights a little.

  12. I am on board with most of the comments here, the geriatrics in Tokyo are letting the country fall apart to try and get the elderly to keep voting for them, and people hop online and rage about some people taking a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower?

    Christ

To be fair, I know it’s probably something like 300 people out of the whole country, and this report just had a slow day at work, but jesus that was annoying, I thought one of the ministers might have said something like hey my American friend told me the only thing France is good at doing is waving a white flag, what does that mean?

Or a funny controversy like that
