What is the best cheap car insurance (probably online) company in Japan? Any recommendations?
What’s Japanlife’s opinion on the tastiest low-calorie beer? I’m on a diet but will need a few drinks tonight.
Hidden somewhere and probably the page isn’t indexed (try yahoo though)
We have Yakult ladies, mobile パン屋さん, even a tofu van. But I just realised I’ve never seen an ice cream van, like a Mr Whippy. Is that not a thing in the suburbs? Surely you’d make a killing in summer.
How do you fill up sandbags? Typhoon is coming. I got empty bags. Where do I go to fill them?
1 – Looking to get a car and got some quotes. I’m looking at kei trucks from the Daihatsu used car dealership. I’m not expecting much movement on the price (one quote I have is 800,000 yen before fees on a display model with 5km). This is around the price range I’m looking at.
What are some realistic things I could negotiate? Can you get things like the delivery fee cut, or can you get them to extend the warranty? Things like that.
2 – your personal opinion from your knowledge of cars – all things being the same:
2019, 17,000km, 780,000 yen
or
2023, 9km, 860,000 yen – what you *you* prefer?
Just looking for ideas of what you (with more knowledge than me) would do.
Reposting from the last question thread: gonna be out of town when it seems that the typhoon is forecasted to hit my area in southern Kyushu. Any prep I should think of doing before leaving besides the normal “leaving your apartment in the summer” things?
Any geocachers around? I’ve got back into it and just wondering what everyones’ success rate is. Do the caches often get ‘muggled’ where you search?
Two karaoke kwestions:
1. WHY is the price structure so incomprehensible? I once went to Rainbow in Shibuya on a Saturday night with unlimited everything and paid about ¥1500 per person per hour, then went to another (much crappier) Big Echo on a random weeknight and paid like ¥3000 per person per hour and that *didn’t even include the soft drink bar!* Both times I had no idea how much I would pay until checkout.
Most places just have some [complicated flowchart](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTAsXMCLcaSO1gOLl4ODgTdYO5LLLED6YoZhA&usqp=CAU) for their prices that I’m not Japanese enough to understand.
Can someone help demystify it and/or recommend a place in Tokyo with good cospa?
2. I feel like I spend a lot of time fumbling with the tablet and realizing they don’t have the song I want to sing. Is it possible to queue up a playlist ahead of time?
I’m attending a language school. What if I could not make any progress after 2 years of school? Is it possible to prolong school time for study because I keep failing exams?
Any good place to add to my iterinary in Toyama this weekend? Planning to go to Amaharashi from Tokyo 日帰り.

When buying a house, what in the world do you look for here? There is a new build, 5 minutes from the station, for an insane price. We toured it and it’s big. Plenty of room, nice design and style.
Of course, they skimped on materials here and there. Counters are meh, bathroom sink unit is meh, no rods for curtains, no dishwasher, and a random sliding door off the living room that leads to nothing, etc.
But damn. It’s cheaper than other places I’ve seen. It’s 98.91 m2. It’s baffling.
Any recommendations from Pizza hut? From their Pizza specifically
Never actually ordered from them since heard bad things but they are under a 5min walk from me so always pass by them
How many 塩あめ do you reckon should be eaten/needed/safely consumed a day for a person not outdoors but is not in air-conditioning and drinks about 2 and half liters of water and one 500ml sports drink? Activities include house cleaning, light yoga, lazy pedaling on a stationary bike while watching *very* crappy movies on Netflix and 10mins of HIIT.
Why are cinderblock walls here laid with stack bonds and not stretcher bonds? Stretcher bonds are like bricks, the way you overlap them so the joints aren’t all + shapes. Rebar or no, it seems like it would be significantly weaker against earthquakes to have all the joints lined up. Does it make demolition easier or something?
Any decent benefits to being a Rakuten diamond member?
Hi! Does anyone know any local 5k/10/half-marathon run races around Tokyo or West Tokyo (excluding the Tokyo or Yokohama marathons)? And do they accept foreigners?
Hi, is there any listing with English Speaking jobs in Tech, Programming and Game dev mainly, but Science and Engineering is also nice and that would sponsor your Visa? Sorry for such a generic Question.😊
