Arcade/indoor game centre recommendations

Hi all, I have some family visiting from abroad and they’d love to check out a big arcade/game centre (something like Dave & Busters in the States). Any suggestions would be great! I know of Round One, which is a decent option but was hoping for other suggestions as well.

Thank you in advance!

  1. Are they looking for retro themed or modern? If they are looking for retro themed, there is Ikebukuro Mikado and takadanobaba Mikado.

  2. The round one I’ve been to didn’t have that many games. I guess it depends on which one. Honestly, any Game Center will do. They all have basically the same stuff over the 4-5 floors. The other commenter suggested the retro ones. I’ve been to the Takadanobaba one. It does indeed have a bunch of older arcade games which was neat.

  3. Only ever went to Taito and GIGO, they are pretty much the standard game center dominated by crane machine, and some arcade stuff at 3rd floor and above.

For VR I remember reading something about it around shibuya area, also red tokyo tower.
No experience about that though, would love to know too in case someone else have experience there.

  4. Isn’t it more effective to just walk into any random one you happen to pass by?

I don’t know if it’s worth going out of their way for anything. A lot of them are crane games on one floor, driving/music games on another, fighting game cabinets on another, and gambling/coin games on another. Most places a tourist will go to, I suspect they’ll pass by no less than 10 arcades. They can just go in as they pass by and see if they like it or not.

As for something with VR, air hockey, skee-ball… Uhhh I suggest they continue to go to dave and busters in the states. I’ve never seen an arcade with those kind of games to be honest. I’m sure one exists…Somewhere.. but I’ve never seen one. Anything extra besides the normal JP arcade stuff is darts, bowling, and batting ranges but not skeeball.

  5. not all in the same building, but within walking distance: tokyo decks and diver city. should have you covered: arcade, retro stuff, vr, sports, karaoke, go carts, etc
