Osaka Kyoto Itinerary

Hi everyone,

This will be the first time travelling to Japan and we are going to Osaka and Kyoto. I was hoping to get some feedback to make sure nothing is too much or too little!

Day 1

* Land at KIX Osaka
* Heading to a Air BNB staying for 4 nights

Day 2

* Dotonbori in the afternoon and night might be a nifty idea
* Sumiyashi shrine either super early in the morning or in the afternoon
* Most likely will look for some hot restaraunts or spend majority of the night time in Dotonbori

Day 3

* Heading to Osaka Castle early in the morning by train which is around 200 yen rougly?
* Teamlab around the evening

Day 4

* Osaka Aquarium
* This day may allow some time for more sightseeing in the nearby areas

Day 5

* Checking out of the Air BNB around 6am sharp
* Taking the train from Osaka to Nara which roughly takes around an hour – any recommendations for trains? How is the luxury train?
* Nara park with the deers
* Kodai-ji and Kofuku-ji temples if possible
* Train to Kinosaki taking around 4 hours
* Checking in at a ryokan at Kinosaki for one night (arriving around 3-4)
* Walking around Kinosaki and trying the onsens, restaraunts

Day 6

* Checking out Kinosaki
* Eating lunch taking the train back to Kyoto
* Wil be heading to another Air BNB that is close to Kiyomizu dera temple

Day 7-8

* Flexible room to visit more historical places such as Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Day 9

* Checkout date and will be taking the train back to KIX

I just wanted to confirm as there are a few days of spare time if heading to Arashiyama would be okay? The forest, monkey park, and bridge seem all pretty nearby and might be a nice place to go as well. Any other suggestions?

Also, if I was interested in getting tickets to a music concert like the Wanima one as a foreigner from outside Japan, is that possible? Or do you need a proxy or someone who lives in Japan? Also, when ticket sites say something about getting tickets at a 7/11 store, what does that process involve, is it only 7/11 s in Japan?

Thank you

  1. Arashiyama is essentially still part of Kyoto. It’s a popular half-day activity. It is very full and many are disappointed because of the crowds and because the bamboo grove isn’t very big.

  2. Yasaka Jinja shrine is very cool to see, I couldn’t find Sumiyashi on Google. I’m going in October-November based in Osaka and going to Kyoto, Nara and Kobe for multiple day trips ☺️
