Is this a worm in my sushi or just a string of fat?

  1. That does not look like a worm to me, it’s also connected to the fat of the fish, not coming out of the flesh

  2. That is the connective tissue in the fish, perfectly safe. In the future it’s best to ask the chef or server, send it back, or simply throw it away if you have a concern if it’s take out.

  3. It’s called a lame sushi chef. Don’t matter if it’s a worm or string of fat.

  4. Thank you all for the responses. Yes, lame sushi chef but as long as it isn’t a parasite I’m happy.

  5. This is called sinew. Connective tissue in fish. Similar to tendon in meat or more closely related to the silver colored “skin/membrane” between the meat.

    Safe to eat, but it should have been removed by your chef.
