  1. Loa should have never been in the G1. If he’s in it next year Gedo is clearly smoking something.

  2. Imgenuinely confused what is happening. It reminds me of Hogans soft boi chair shots, except with hands.

  3. The ol “I forgot what I’m doing…take us to the corner to regroup, brother” sequence.

  4. There is no reason why Tom Lawlor and Fred Rosser should’ve been left out of the G1 this year.

  5. Man, it’s killing me that no one can explain this. No one’s even trying to Regal it. I haven’t watched a full G1 in a few years so when I first saw it I assumed it was just some silly running gag where Okada was gonna take his fucking head off at the end, but no: it’s just Tanga Loa … sucking? What a disappointment. And it sucks because *this* is the shit that makes it to the larger Western audience, who sees Okada in it and goes “I thought he was the best! Why is he selling that?”

This looks like someone trying to lose their job.

  6. It is embarrassing for top guys like Okada to sell to this…
NJPW needs to stop making their jobbers look good…Tanga Loa and Chase Owens should have never been in this G1

  7. Tanga loa is too soft I agree and this is very bad but he’s a bit of an acceptable target right now. I do wonder how favourable a compilation of moxley working too soft in njpw would go in this sub. It’s something for western guys to keep in mind. They want to capture the impact in shot. So every strike will be in full view.

But here is where this winds me up. Okada had done his job as the heel. He got the crowd around Tanga Loa who is on balance probably the worst worker in the g1 and then he did this as his comeback. Like bruv it just has to be better than that. There are countless times where okada has let his opponent absolutely beat the shit out of him. This had to be stiff and viscous from Loa to nail the comeback against the cocky okada. It’s verging on an insult to the effort okada put in. I’d be mad as hell if I was okada.

See Okada is a big guy. He can’t and shouldn’t bump like ospreay or naito. It means other wrestlers need to be physical with him or stuff just stands out. Tanga loa was also dreadfully soft with ospreay but he flips around and masks some of it. The murder kota spot at wk 14 stands out because the way okada sells but he needs something from his opponent rather than whatever this gif is

It’s just disappointing to see to be honest. It’s the g1 mate. Hit him. The ospreay match too. There are guys who would kill for an ospreay/okada singles match back to back

  8. hey, if takashi iizuka did this combo with his iron claw, it would have killed okada, clearly tanga loa needs to obtain his own iron claw.

  9. I would pay good money to see someone sit him down, show him this clip, and ask him to defend himself. I genuinely don’t even get the intention, it makes him look hilariously weak/ pathetic and his opponent even worse for selling.

  10. You guys remember when Ibushi missed hurricanrana on Tanga Loa but then Loa flipped anyway?

  11. It’s like whenever a wrestler has the unfortunate task of selling Shane McMahon’s punches.

  12. This makes Hogan vs Michaels look reasonable. What the absolute fuck is this? And it’s Okada of all who has to sell this bullshit. It turns my guts, the cringe is unbelievable.

  13. This is awful lol. Okada not selling (because why the fuck would he?), tanga looks like he is trying to finger paint…if it’s gonna be this fucking lazy, don’t bother. If you ever wondered who was the Janetty was, look no further

  14. The only reason, THE ONLY REASON! they are allowing this is because Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa are leaving New Japan next year. That’s what I’ll only believe why they did this.

  15. I tried to give tanga loa a chance to perform but this deep into the tournament I couldn’t focus on his matches

  16. At first I thought this was a comedy spot (they usually do them pretty well in NJPW), but I watched the entire match.

It wasn’t comedy. It was just bad.

As someone else said, it’s hard to make rapid strikes look good in the best of circumstances. This was not the best of circumstances.

There were parts of the match that looked like they were moving in slow motion.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Tanga Loa wrestle and this doesn’t look anything like what I remember.

  17. Hey OP; even though there’s no actual “spoilers” in this vid it does need still need a spoiler tag. The rule pertains to anything from a show that’s less than 24 hours old.

  18. Could have taken Okada’s head off here. Needs to be a bit more careful with the brute force tactics.

  19. It looks like early fight scene choreography or some sort of eastern placebo healing technique.
