Software developer to English teacher ?

I see a lot of posts the other way around and I was wondering how easy it would be to get a job teaching English. I’m a native English speaker and have been working in software for ~ 2 years I don’t really like it though and want a change. One problem is that I never finished college I dropped it and started work full time at the company I was interning at at the time never been a problem finding work but I would guess japan has enough college degreed people to make it a requirement. General thoughts ?

It’s not about Japan having enough degreed people. It’s that Japan has decided that they only *want* degreed (or similarly educated) people.

A degree is a basic requirement to get a working visa.

If you were looking for a SWE position you could use your experience to bypass the degree requirement (You need a degree ***or*** 10+ years of experience), but for English teaching that’s not going to work. You’ll need a degree.
