Buying stuff from US and shipping to Japan – how to avoid crazy shipping prices

As title says, what’s the best, most safe and cheapest way to buy things in US and get them shipped to Japan without paying crazy money for shipping/import fees?
I’m shopping for electronic that can not be bought in Japan (nobody sells it here).

Easiest and cheapest would be to get it shipped through army base , but I’m not in the army so unless someone helps me out for a bottle of sake or whiskey or something….

  1. Have friends/relatives there? Ship to them, then they forward it to you. All those places like myus etc will charge a fee on top of amount.

  2. Amazon or Newegg has pretty reliable international shipping. Arrives in a week and is. 20-50 bucks usually. That’s not bad if you buying a expensive electronics product.
