Hi. I’ve previously lived in Japan for about 8 years until April this year. I had to move back because I couldn’t find a job before my visa expired, but have luckily been able to find a job recently. The company that hired me has not hired foreigners before and has never helped with a visa before, meaning I have to figure out which visa I need to apply for. Its a law related job at a law firm, so I assume(according to the immigration website) that it would fall under 法律・会計義務. Any help or resources would be much appreciated!

No, this means that your employer should be hiring a professional to assist them.
While the application process is relatively straightforward (And is extensively documented in the Japanese-language sections of the MOFA and ISA websites) if they’re not comfortable doing it themselves they should be hiring an immigration attorney, not asking you to DIY the process for them.
There is just far too much room for error if you’re trying to look things up and then pass the information on to them. An attorney will be able to tell them exactly which visa is relevant, and exactly what documentation is needed.
