Best Places to Snorkel in Izu?

Hi! My friend and I will be traveling to Japan from late August through mid-September. One thing that we’d really like to do during our vacation is snorkel, and I’ve read online that Izu is a great place to do that!

However, none of the articles / videos I’m finding online provide specific recommendations for places to snorkel in Izu (a lot focus on scuba diving sites only), nor if there are places that are tourist-friendly / offer snorkeling equipment and / or wetsuit rental / easily accessible by public transportation (we won’t have a car – will have a JR Pass and are happy to do < 1 hr walking to get to some snorkel sites if needed from a bus or train station!)

Would anyone happen to know any good snorkeling site recommendations that fit our needs? Thank you so much in advance!

Also – I speak intermediate-level Japanese (3 years of studying in college). I’ve been to Japan 3 times before, but only recently got into snorkeling so have never had the chance do it in the country before!
