Local Manta Scramble Ishigaki Recommendations!

Hey everyone! Thanks for reading this! I am gonna be in Ishigaki for a part of my trip.

Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for half day/a few hour events to see the manta rays at Manta Scramble in North Ishigaki?

Some specific details/questions:

We want to snorkel, not scuba

Is it cheaper to reserve on the day of/a day before? We’ll only be there two days. Is that possible, or will everything be booked?

If you know of any local cheap prices, I’d love to know the range! I am guessing that online options that have English are gonna be marked up by quite a bit. Any information would be super appreciated!

Where we’re starting from: Ishigaki, we have a car so we can drive anywhere needed

Dates of travel: August 30 – September 1

Budget: preferably less than $50 per person for a half day/few hour event

General interest: manta scramble, any dive spot around Ishigaki with high density of manta rays, snorkeling is key (no diving needed)

Itinerary: the days are open so as to allow for this reservation

Any prior research: every and all reddit posts that have Ishigaki recommendations as well as manta ray viewing reservations. All YouTube results for Ishigaki. Websites (seen 10-20 different sites) that offer Ishigaki Tours and manta ray dives. We’re looking for local options, because the English options are a lot more expensive. Language will not be an issue. Any resources in Japanese or websites that we haven’t seen will be much appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Sorry, I don’t have the answers you need. I’ll be looking to dive manta scramble in October though and I’m struggling with rental cars. Can I ask how you’ve sorted yours? Thanks in advance.
