Ahamo or povo 2.0 for light use

Hi all,

For someone who uses little data (3-4 GB per month) and travels overseas a couple of times a year, povo 2.0 seems to be the better option, but do you have any other insights?

Ahamo (2 920 yen per month in my case)
– 2 920 yen per month (20 GB)
– Free roaming in many countries

povo 2.0 (990 – 1 500 yen per month in my case + some costs when going abroad)
– 990 yen per month (3 GB) (can top up with 1 GB if necessary for 390 yen if 3 GB runs out)
– Overseas roaming available, but need to top up with “overseas data” before each time

However, povo 2.0 does not seem to support automatic payments if you do not have a credit card.

  1. I mean, the answer seems obvious…? Unless you really need 20GB and you travel abroad so much that you need the overseas data, povo is obviously the better option.

  2. for low data usage, irumo and linemo also work. povo is the lowest maintenance one of them all

But can’t really beat the free roaming of ahamo if you travel a lot

Or just buy another 3gb… You’re not locked into the monthly cycle.
